I installed Lilypond in a directory on D:\, (where the limited account has write access) and I opened the Frescobaldi preferences to set the new location of Lilypond as the default. My drive has two partitions, C:\ is the system partition and D:\ is the Data partition. LilyPond fails because it tries to write to some subdirectory of C:\Program Files\Lilypond, where the limited account has no write access. I log in to the Administrator account only for things that require Administrator privilege. My Windows account for day-to-day work is a limited account. Only an Administrator has write-access to station C:\ When I originally installed LilyPond I allowed the installer to use the default location: C:\Program Files\Lilypond "-1073741819 is an access violation error that's all I know." I did some more googling, and the following thread from the LilyPond user list provided a clue: Inserted image: screenshot of the LilyPond log pane content. Is there a way for me to find out whether that might in fact be necessary for me?
#Frescobaldi lilypond install#
"It might be necessary to install the Visual C++ 2008 runtime module from Microsoft" It has a graphical user interface that simplifies the process of making sheet music with LilyPond but only a little bit.

I googled the combination of 'Frescobaldi' and the message 'exited with return code' but that search turned up just a few occurrences, and none of them offered any clue. If you want to use LilyPond offline on your computer, you can use Frescobaldi, a free software music editor for creating and displaying (engraving) LilyPond files. The boldface and red color suggest that Frescobaldi has experienced a fatal error. In the log pane the line 'Exited with return code -1073741819.' is in boldface and the lettercolor is red. Layout output to `TroisNouvellesEtudes_Chopin_n1.ps'.Ĭonverting to `./TroisNouvellesEtudes_Chopin_n1.pdf'. MIDI output to `TroisNouvellesEtudes_Chopin_n1.mid'. Processing `TroisNouvellesEtudes_Chopin_n1.ly' This is the output in the 'Lilypond Log' pane: Both installed without triggering any warnings or so.Īs a first step in getting to know Frescobaldi I downloaded an arbitrary file from Mutopia:
